Dae Jang Geum Park Day Trip: A Practical Guide for K-Drama Fans

Planning update, October 20, 2026: Dae Jang Geum Park has announced a temporary closure on October 22–23, 2026 for electrical work. Avoid those dates and check the official closure notice before setting out.

A palace courtyard, a traditional market lane, a doorway that looks almost familiar: Dae Jang Geum Park gives historical-drama fans a chance to look beyond the close-up. MBC’s outdoor filming complex in Yongin makes a rewarding day trip when you want time with the sets themselves, rather than a hurried photo stop.

The practical catch is transport. This is a destination to plan around, not an easy extra after a morning of Seoul sightseeing. Leave room for connections, check the return journey before you arrive, and treat any filming access as a bonus.

Why drama fans come here

The park’s official filming list includes The Red Sleeve, The King’s Affection, Haechi, and The Crowned Clown. That makes it especially appealing if your watchlist leans toward royal courts, succession struggles, and period romances. A production’s presence on that list confirms a park connection, not that every scene was filmed here or that its individual sets will be accessible.

Gyeonggi Tourism Organization describes a semi-permanent production complex drawing on architecture and living spaces from the Three Kingdoms, Goryeo, and Joseon periods. Think about how those different settings create a story’s world as you walk. These are reconstructed filming environments, so pair the trip with a separate heritage visit if seeing original historic buildings is your main goal.

Choose the right Dae Jang Geum location

Search for 용인 대장금파크 and check the address: 25 Yongcheon drama-gil, Baegam-myeon, Cheoin-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do. Save the Korean address too: 경기도 용인시 처인구 백암면 용천드라마길 25.

The name can cause confusion. The park’s older official English leaflet explains that its commemorative Dae Jang Geum set incorporated materials from the set at MBC’s Yangju Culture Valley. Do not assume every older article about a “Dae Jang Geum Theme Park” describes this Yongin destination. That leaflet is useful for background, but not for current prices or transport.

Opening hours and admission

The current Korean visitor-information page lists:

  • March–October: 9 a.m.–6 p.m.; last entry 5 p.m.
  • November–February: 9 a.m.–5 p.m.; last entry 4 p.m.
  • Holiday changes: closed on Seollal day; 10 a.m.–6 p.m. on Chuseok day.

Standard admission is ₩11,000 for adults and ₩9,000 for teenagers and children; preschool children enter free. The operator’s price notice says these rates took effect on October 1, 2024. Some older English pages still show lower prices, so use the current Korean information when budgeting. Transport, food, and any optional activities need a separate allowance.

Getting there without a rushed connection

The operator’s transport page routes public-transport visitors through Giheung, the Everline, and a bus connection toward Baegam, followed by bus 105 or a taxi to the park. Its station wording includes the older “Stadium, Songdam College” name, so use a live Korean mapping app for the actual journey rather than copying the route blindly.

For planning, focus on the final leg: confirm the next bus 105 departure and the return service before committing to the trip. The official page lists the service but is not a live departure board. If you prefer fewer transfers, compare a transport-inclusive tour or a prearranged car. Check whether admission is included and how much independent visiting time you actually get. No fixed travel time is reliable without your starting point and departure date.

A relaxed visit plan

As a planning suggestion, reserve roughly three hours inside, plus your outward and return journeys. This is an editorial allowance, not an official tour duration. Start by asking which sections are open, then choose a manageable route rather than trying to collect every building.

  1. Begin with the larger palace settings. Look at the courtyards, rooflines, and sightlines before concentrating on detail photographs.
  2. Slow down in the streets. The Korea Tourism Organization overview identifies a range of palace and administrative sets. Let the available route, rather than an old screenshot, guide your visit.
  3. Keep a return buffer. Finish with enough time to reach your transport pickup comfortably. A final photograph is rarely worth a missed connection.

Respect the working set

MBC warns that some sets may be unavailable during drama filming. Follow barriers and staff directions, leave production equipment alone, and do not build the day around meeting an actor. Its visitor rules also ask guests not to touch facilities outside designated experiences and warn about winter ice.

Wear comfortable walking shoes, bring weather protection, and ask ahead about a suitable route if you need step-free access. Confirm any costume experience separately rather than assuming it operates every day. The ticket-office number is +82-2-789-1675.

For a fan who enjoys noticing how a drama’s world is built, the park can justify a dedicated day. Check the official park notices, settle the transport first, and arrive ready to enjoy whichever parts of the set are open.

For a shorter screen-inspired outing within Seoul, compare our Seoul drama-location guide. If your final connection needs a taxi, read our first-ride checklist before setting out.

Official visitor information checked October 20, 2026. Recheck operator notices before traveling; filming, weather and maintenance can change access.
